The 13th Annual Dorothy Dupont Memorial Tournament is officially in the books. We had a wonderful four days of baseball, with each team playing three games. This tournament would not have happened without the help of its many volunteers. Aaron Sheppard, the president of Murphy Canyon Little League and his Board were at the field all four days to make sure the fields were ready for the teams to play on, and the snack bar was open and ready to serve the hungry fans. Several of which were heard commenting on the awesome hamburgers and fries they sell.
A big thank you to Ric Castañon, he made sure we had umpires at every game! Getting enough umpires was not an easy task.
Sunday, Aaron coordinated to have the Navy Color Guard from Coronado present the colors on the field for the National Anthem to start the Championship Game.
Congratulations to the Mission Trails Marlins on winning the tournament!! The Championship Game was an exciting way to wrap up the weekend. The Marlins went on to beat the La Mesa Nationals Cardinals 13-3.
These tournaments that the District coordinates are not just for the players to get ready for the postseason, it also helps the managers and coaches know what to expect, what rules and guidelines to follow. The tournaments also help prepare the scorekeepers, in showing the importance of making sure every change is documented in the scorebook. These tournaments would not be possible without the all around support from everyone, for that we say thank you.
